In 1962, with an already successful used auto sales center, a franchise dealership in the near future, and a loyal customer base Mr. Robert G. Caldwell was looking to expand. Many upscale customers had expressed a desire to trade up or out of their current vehicles without the hassle of negotiating trade value or losing equity by trading out too quickly. Mr. Caldwell met the needs of these select clients by introducing leasing as a finance option. This allowed the clients to have a more expensive car and replace the vehicle more often without a huge payment or cash outlay.
As the popularity of leasing began to grow, Mr. Caldwell started his third business, Leasemobile, Inc to meet the ever-growing demand. The increasing demand also facilitated some personnel changes and Mr. David Linscott was promoted from a sales person to manage Leasemobile, Inc. In 1964 the name Leasemobile, Inc was changed to include the founders name; The Caldwell Company. During the early years, the main clientele were doctors, lawyers and local business owners but as the years progressed and the value of leasing was established, The Caldwell Company grew to include corporate accounts and expand outside the state of Ohio.
Fifty years later, we are a woman-owned company and have grown to over 200 fleet accounts in 42 states throughout the US. Hands on customer service and a quick response to all client needs are the cornerstones of our success.
